re-usable grocery tote bags

Did you know you could make re-usable grocery tote bags from old t-shirts? Who knew! I brought this home from MOPs today.

All you do is cut off the collar and the armholes...

turn the shirt inside out, and sew a seam along the bottom.

And there you have it...a re-usable grocery tote bag!

I have seen these but wondered how easy they were for the grocery people to fill. My people usually grumble when you bring your own bags!

We keep buying the bags but we forget them just about EVERY time we go to the store!! This is a very cute reusable bag though!!

cool idea...I bet this would be a fun activity for little girls...to make a bag out of their old shirts. :)

I always forget to bring them into stores, too. I'm determined to start remembering.

I bagged groceries in high school and college and, yes, they are annoying to fill. ;)

Rachael, this would be a great craft for young girls, because it only requires one straight stitch!

Christian, we miss you at MOPs, too...and on Wed. nights, and on Friday mornings...

I envisioned myself making pretty grocery tote bags but then I gave in and bought a few $.99 ones, can we say instant gratification.

This idea is so practical, thrifty, and easy. I'm going to give it a whirl! Thanks for sharing.

Now that, I can do. I love how it's recycling in order to recycle...and I have plenty of old t-shirts I need to re-use around here. Thanks!

That is so ingenious! I will definitely give that a go. I see you got the idea at MOPS - I have given two talks at the only MOPS in France - it's a great organisation! BTW, I got onto your lovely blog via a link on the Farm Chicks Website - I always like to know how people found my blog!
